Red Class 2017-18

Thankfully at the beginning of the week the weather warmed up and we made the most of it by getting outside to do some writing. We took the paintbrushes and some water and wrote some CVC words on the playground and then watched them magically disappear. Then we had a visit from 2 special visitors Rosie and Jessie. we finished the week by using the large apparatus in the hall for PE we have learnt so much and Mrs Mayhew and Mrs Crane were so impressed by our balancing, toe pointing, different methods of travelling and landing a jump correctly.

This week was Science week, we have had a great time investigating, experimenting and asking lots of questions. Thursday we invited our Federation friends over to join in with more science workshops. What a great week we've had. We learnt how to make  bubbles of different sizes.  And on Science Day we got to handle some unusual creatures. We were very brave!

Last week saw SNOW and lots of it we had to have 3 days off school but we still enjoyed playing in it on the Tuesday. This week we have been focusing on pattern. On World Book Day we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and this led us to make fruit kebabs. We looked great in our costumes and had a lovely time sharing our learning with our grown ups. On Friday in PE we went on the large equipment. What a treat! We used the climbing frame and the elephant schools and practised our climbing, sliding, jumping and landing.

WOW! What a busy first week back we've had. We have been listening to the story of The Three Little Pigs. We have been trying to build lots of structures including dens and find out the best materials to use. We are so lucky that are role play area is now the little pigs house. Which one would you like to live in? What luck, Tasty Tuesday was actually Pancake Day so guess what we made? Pancakes!!  We chose the pancake we wanted to eat, heated it up in the microwave and chose our favourite topping. What topping would you choose? Then we learnt how to make pancakes and the ingredients that goes into them. Mrs Crane kindly went and bought some more equipment for our woodwork area and this week we finished our safety training.  Our maths focus had been shapes and their different names and properties. we have talked about both 2D and 3D shapes and used them to build with.
